Outfit #7 of my 6-month challenge

Three weeks into my challenge, and I finally have a post about sewing. The striped top I'm wearing was actually a sleeveless turtleneck tunic that I got about 3 years ago from Express. I wore it, quite possibly, once before deciding that it wasn't flattering me at all. But I couldn't give it up because I am a stripes whore. Sigh.

Since I'd been obsessing over sweetheart necklines recently, I decided to make a summer-appropriate tank. It was actually quite simple to make--the whole process took about an hour, and no fingers were accidentally stitched over or pricked. I do like the end result, but I think I'll take it in a little bit more on the sides, since the top is pretty loose and without any structure, really.

On another note, I am not so sure I like this cardigan anymore. Whenever I wear it, I feel like I look 20 lbs heavier. I think it's where the buttons sit or where the sweater actually ends. Either way, if I don't find a way to make it work with other items in my wardrobe by the time this challenge ends, it's off to the giveaway pile for it.

It's been a weird week, dear readers. I've been so busy doing tons of stuff, and I'm still searching for a job. It's getting to be quite frustrating. I live in a smallish city, and there aren't any openings in the places I would like to work in. I've been stressing about it, but I also think I shouldn't take it personally. Sigh. Well, hopefully, things get better soon. ♥

I hope everyone has a wonderful, long weekend! My fonfon ru and I are gonna cook up a storm!

  1. I love the alterations you made - it's such a cute tank! And I personally think the cardigan looks great but my rule of thumb for clothes is if you're not happy (even if it is all in your head), get rid of it. Only wear what makes you feel your best!

  7. I love how the alterations you've made on this top make it look like a sexy halter! You look very sexy bombshell! :) Hey, I like this cardi! I don't think it makes you heavier at all! Plus, it looks great with the black and white stripes! Your hair looks wonderful up like this! :)

  8. I love that top! I quick scrolled down to see where you got it, but of course you had to have made it ;P Sewing is just never something I got the hang of. My patience is less than none, I couldn't even thread the machine before I got frustrates and gave up.

  10. And I wish I was as creative as you! I have zero patience for altering clothes (and sewing in general), so I am most impressed by this turtleneck turned tank top. I love sweetheart necklines, too. In fact, I'm wearing a dress with one today :)

    Happy weekend!

  14. I am impressed by your sewing handiwork, my GOD!

(And I feel a kinship related to your love of stripes. At one point I swore off buying anything striped for awhile.... it didn't last very long.)

Also, as a possibly inappropriate side note, that shirt makes your ladies look VA VOOM. Just sayin'.

  16. Wow, nice work on that top! I love the neckline. And I never get tired of the black/white/red combo - it's so chic! And I think the cardigan looks great unbuttoned, so maybe the length/button placement won't bother you if you just don't button it?

  17. You are crazy talented babe, I wish you were here so you could teach me how to sew!! It seems like such a handy skill to have. I can't even sew on a button that has dropped btw hehe.

And I think you look lovely as you always do, I dun see how the cardi isn't wonderful on you! :)
