Even though I incessantly complained about the heat and humidity of Illinois summers, I gotta say, I loved the extended daylight hours. I could wait until it was 7 or 8 at night and still take great shots outside, no problem. It seemed like I had endless days of fun. Yesterday, the mercury rose quite a bit, so I found it a bit appropriate to prance around in bright, festive colors. I was tricked to think it was still summer! Imagine my dismay when I looked outside at 5pm and the sun was already hiding behind the distant tree line!  I'm going to have to come up with a new workable photo schedule. Drats.

How do you fit blog/ OOTD photographing into your day?

  1. I try to do my photos just as I leave the house in the morning. The problem is that, as a grad student, sometimes I work at home and don't actually wind up leaving for campus or dinner or whatever until after it's dark so I have the occasional indoor photo.

  4. The pink and blue are awesome! I also kind of love your hat.

I don't fit blogging into my day as often as I want to. My other wish is I could do more OOTD posts, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it. I have a tripod, but I can't get it to the right angle to do a picture (and I don't have anyone that can take a decent picture to help me)

  7. Super cute outfit Laura! I love to colors, I keep on mixing those together recently. But the one thing that you have that I don't is that striped skirt! I'm in desperate need of one *sigh*.

It's annoying here in Manila because the weather has been way too unpredictable. Last weekend, I was ready to shoot and just had a snack before hand and boom! Rain. You just literally turn around for a few seconds and the dark clouds are back and that beautiful sun is just gone. Thankfully I have my fiance to take photos of me so I don't really have a problem with forcing to get someone to shoot my outfit. Recently, I've decided that since all my shots turn out super dark anyway, that all I had to do was light up my room enough and have the shoot indoors. So even if it's already evening I still get a few shots in. With a little Photoshopping skillz I'm able to have decent photos for outfit posts :D

  13. Love this outfit- the pink and blue are gerat together and it's a great take on a nautical look :) I know what you mean about the light! I've been asking my husband to come home from work earlier, but he can't always do that...Maybe try planning what you're going to wear for the week and photograph it all on weekends?

  14. I love the idea of a tunic over a skirt! Your colors are fabulous! Your necklace is really cute too :)

We usually do a big photo shoot over a weekend and pre-post the photos. The photos get pre-posted, but we usually write the content in real time (except our mother/daughter remixes).

  15. Great outfit, lady! I love the color choices you made. :)

I usually dress up more at night, so my shoots are usually are taken inside, which sucks because I would love the use the great space I have in my yard.

  16. OOOH that necklace!! I love the colors of this outfit <3 pink and blue are the best together!!!

I barely fit outfits into my schedule. The sun here is like a heat lamp that casts nasty shadows so I have to wait for magic hour to do anything and that's usually when I'm busiest so D':

  40. Ah... the cursed problem of winter and lack of daylight hours. Lar tried forever one year to get the perfect outfit picture taking blog lighting one year in our apartment. It never fully worked. Now that Lar is out of the country, I just coax my coworkers into take my picture at lunch. Is that sad?! Well, that's what it's come to!

Love the summeriness and cheeriness of your outfit!

  41. I love the color palette of your outfit! So bright and cheery and definitely a lovely ode to long summer days:) I remember when I was commuting to work everyday, I used to have to rush to the nearby park as soon as I got off to snap photos before the sun set. It was hit or miss depending on the weather and time. I definitely miss the long summer sunlight.

  52. This is such a great summer send-off outfit. We had some lovely days in the 70s/80s, too, but now it's back to layered-up reality :) I really like what you did here - belting a tunic over a skirt and matching your cardigan, belt & shoes. The colors and the stripes create such an element of playfulness and fun.
