Outfit # 69 of my 6-Month Challenge

Because I'm increasingly getting lazier and lazier as the days go by, I hardly have time to squeeze time in the morning for photos. So this set was taken at my favorite section of my local grocers': the alcoholic beverages section. Because I'm classy just like that.

I still am very hesitant about taking photos in public, and I rushed my husband to take all 5 photos in under 30 seconds because I was afraid that someone was going to see me and think up horrible, horrible scenarios about what I'm doing. (my mind strays VERY far, dear reader. VERY far, indeed)

How do you feel about taking photos in public places?

(that sounds like a really dirty question. Ok, maybe it sounds dirty to me because, like I said, my mind strays VERY far)

  1. I noticed the alcohol aisle right away! HAHA! Not sure what that means...

Cute outfit. Love the tights! I NEED to buy some colored tights STAT! (I need some more money STAT!)

Man, I am nervous just to take photos in my front yard! I'm hoping the more I do it, the better I get!

  2. I always feel awkward doing photos in public places too...but maybe I'd feel different about glam shots in the liquor aisle. Also, LOVE those tights.

  3. lol, the boxed wine. I don't have anyone to take pictures of me and no way would I use my tripod out in public. honestly I don't know how to use it in not-public, so it's a moot point

  4. See when I get snap happy I take pictures everywhere and the boys like nooo don't use your big camera. So any public ones like say in restaurants have to be on a compact one. It doesn't bother me as such but I can't imagine taking a proper shoot in say Target lol

  5. Ha ha! Public photos scare the crap out of us. We did it one time and it was early morning, so nobody was around. These photos are great for doing them in under 30 seconds. That's got to be a record. And who wouldn't want to pose in the liqour aisle? Love the blue tights and skirt :)

  7. Haha, awesome! I am the same way - I hate it if someone sees me getting my photo taken... there's something really awkward about it! Good job braving through!

  8. It freaks me out too! I always like to go behind buildings where people can't see me or else I imagine that they think I'm crazy/vain...

  9. Hello Kitty is so cute.

I love you tights. Such a pretty color.

I get easily embarrassed about pictures in public but I tend to be a very private person.

  10. You look like a super hero in those tights and that skirt looks amazing on you! I've been thinking about a skirt like that but I'm not brave enough... yet. I feel weird taking photos in public if it's just me but if someone is taking my photo... it's cool!

  11. LOL - you are too silly Laura! I never use to drink alcohol that is until I got into law school =) I usually stick to the fruity ones though!

What an adorable outfit you have on - Hello Kitty, stripe mini, colorful leggings: cuteness overload, I love it!

I am usually the same when it comes to taking pictures in public, if people are around I make hubby take it really fast and then we run ;) Happy Tuesday sweetie!

  12. Well, if it's any consolation to you, I thought dirty when seeing just the name of this post :D bad me. Love the shirt, it's so adorable! :) there's nothing wrong with posing in the middle of bottles of alcohol - if you do it in a store. I think :D

  13. Those blue tights + striped skirt = love. Just FYI.
And I get really shy too, but I've tried to learn to egt over it because my indoor photos always look like such crap!

  14. I used not like taking pictures in public then I met my photographer boyfriend and that pretty much became the norm lol People always stare and I wonder if they are staring because they are curious or because they think I'm a weirdo lol :)

  15. lol I noticed the alcohol right away. You look adorable with your amazing blue tights. I'm getting more and more comfortable taking pics in public - as long as people aren't standing around watching!

  18. I of course adore the jumper, so cute!! It looks great with the stripy skirt! When I'm out taking photos if I'm in any I'm always telling whoever is taking it to hurry up before people start looking over! x

  19. I love the color of your tights!!!! I respect you for taking photo's in public since you don't like it :) I kind of don't have a problem taking photo's in public, I just prefer not to. Does that sound weird...yeah it does.

  20. I'm okay with taking photos outside in public, but my husband has been thrown out of store too many times (he designed adds for Pedigree dog food and often needed to see what store's shelving looked like to design the ads) for me to feel comfortable taking photos in stores or restaurants. It's so sad, because sometimes I want to take fun thrifting photos or take pictures of a yummy meal, but Im too afraid. I love those tights by the way, BRIGHT and wonderful :)

  21. I like your scarf. I take my own pictures, so setting up a tripod in a store might seem a little strange.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Funny! I don't even like taking pictures just outside my own door because I worry what the neighbors think! I imagine them squinting their eyes, peeking through their blinds and saying "Honey come here and take a look at this!" LOL

    ReplyDelete
  23. Your top is so cute :) I'd never dare take pics in the supermarket!

  24. Laura, this post made me laugh out loud! Stray very far! ha! As for your outfit, I did grabby hands and reached for the screen hoping I could retrieve it for myself! Sadly, my attempt failed but damn, you look adorable, lady! :)

  25. Hahahaha, I feel VERY uncomfortable taking pictures in public as well... I would ALSO rush my boyfriend to take the pics as quickly as possible before someone saw us. We also had backup plans in case someone indeed saw us (we acted like we were looking at the trees, or looking at pictures inside the camera, or whatever)... haha

  26. I miss your posts! Sorry I've been so busy - I always love reading your blog and seeing your outfits and answering your questions... :)

Love the way you're wearing your scarf!

And to answer your question - I feel super awkward when taking blog photos in public places, but then I just pretend I'm a tourist. Hahhaha ;)

  28. You get used to taking photos out and about. Some people stare but most just continue on their way. Sometimes people talk to me, but those that do only want to know how the camera performs and if I think it's worth it to upgrade to an SLR.

I love your bold tights... definitely tell you that a lot, but I still do :) I'm seeing cobalt on everyone lately. I've got to get some.

  32. I consider anyone outside of myself, witnessing my photograph being taken, to be a "public" observer. I'm beyond horrified and try to mask my self-consciousness with a nonchalance that is totally fake. Sometimes I even ignore the camera. Don't ask me. You'd think a camera attacked me or something. Hey! Maybe that's what happened! Death by camera attack in a past life or something? Well, you look cute as can be and I think the outfit's great! Love how easily you wear that blue scarf.

  33. Cuuuuuuuute! LOVE Chucks. I'm unashamed to admit that I basically lived in Chucks for most of my life. They're just a bit impractical in Seattle. =D

  34. HAHA Laura!!! And you have excellent lighting in there! LOL Let me see which aisle you're in...liquor! hmmmm LOL I'll take a glass of chardonnay! Fun outfit girl! :D

  35. Haha, it is a funny question. I always even feel weird kissing the hubby in public! Sometimes I'm totally ok rocking pictures--like when I'm downtown. But if I'm somewhere more low key it just feels so uncomfortable :P Love your fun photos though and your outfit is just so cute and kitschy, it's great!

  37. I love nerds too! :) I get embarassed too but sometimes public photos are a must-do and at least we look cute while doing so! The title of this post reminds me of the 'Dancing to iPod in public' youtube video-so funny!

  44. perfect location, laura! you're in the right spot! XD

also, i take my time when i ask the boy to take my outfit shots only if it's just me and him. well, that didn't sound very right. or it's me and my meaningful mind.

i love your chucks! i wanna buy a new pair like yours but i want mine in black.

  45. I DONT take pictures in public, I'm such a wuss. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the skirt/tights combo. And of course anything Hello Kitty I am immediately enamored with.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Totalllly feel the same way, Laura. I always try to do these very covert shots and they come out all wonky. Even standing on the street when cars rush by I get really uncomfortable. That's why usually I have some weird fishy face going on because I'm trying to compensate for feeling so self-conscious. I applaud you for being able to do it in a grocery store! My favorite aisle is the baked goods section - nom nom nommmm hahah!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yay, this has always been one of my favorite Hello Kitty prints.

I'm always nervous and hesitant to take photos in public, be it alone or with someone. I should work on overcoming it, though!
