I have never owned a silk scarf before, but only because I never really knew how to wear one. Many times, I've ogled at the gorgeous Hermes designs, and I even fantasized about getting the super famous Jason Wu cat scarf, but deep in my heart, I knew I didn't know how to wear them, so I should just save my pennies for something else.

But the loveliest of all lovelies, the sweetest Alana from Merry Alana, sent me this beautiful scarf (and another one in a minty green) for my birthday! Seriously, people, how sweet is she? Do check out her awesome blog! She is definitely the sweetest!

It's taken me a long time to wear the scarves. I first tied it around my purse, and I tried wearing them around my neck flight-attendant style. After playing around with the scarves, I finally have the courage to wear them my way in public! Huzzah!

How do you wear silk scarves?

ps. have you entered my giveaway yet?

pps. I'll be out of town over the weekend. I'll catch up with your fabulous blogs in a couple of days! Happy Weekend!

  2. You're too sweet! I'm just glad that you liked it :) Also, I'll confess, I collect these scarves like some sort of silk hoarder, but can also struggle with how to style them! Have a nice weekend out of town!!

  3. Umm, I love it! That scarf is so pretty and totally goes with your whole outfit. I also thank you for showing me how to wear that skirt. I have the same one in a pinky-peach color and have only worn it once (and looked ridiculous in doing so)

  4. Aw that is such a lovely gift and so pretty too! While i'm a scarf fan I don't own any silky ones, I think they too scare me a little by being so small and rather ladylike which i'm often not!

  14. That skirt is so pretty! I know what you mean about silk scarves, I worry they'll slip off if I wear them loose around my neck so tend to wear them how you have here :) It looks gorgeous and goes perfectly with your outfit! x

  22. I have a problem with silk scarfs too! But they can be soooo pretty. So I just suck up the nerves and go with it. I'm nowhere near shapely enough to do that thing where the girl wears a silk scarf as a top but I find a way to work with them too. Very cute scarf so it was very sweet of Alana to think of you like that. xoxo Have fun on your trip!

  23. This is my favorite way to wear a square scarf, with one tied around my neck I feel like a really chic bandit. I love the color of this scarf on you, it's a really flattering color near your face. I love the rest of this combo too, it's kind of soft & cozy.

  28. I adore your shoes and I never know how to wear a silk scarf either. Mostly I just tie it around my neck or bag handle!

  29. I like how you paid attention to details, and paired the floral prints on the scarf with floral prints on your dress!

I wear silk scarfs as halter-necks. I would wear a tank top as base, then tie a large silk scarf in a halter-neck fashion over it.

  30. that's so sweet of her! It's a pretty scarf. And I like that tiered skirt, so princessy . Nice feminine chic outfit. And I like how you pull back your hair for a sophisticated look. Have a happy weekend!

  32. I have one silk scarf, the first that I've ever bought...and I've worn it only once because I have such trouble styling it! If it was square it would be easier--those look cute tied around the neck like you have or knotted over your shoulders, or rolled into a belt, or twisted and tied around the neck. But this one is long and skinny like a belt almost...so my only real option is to wrap it around my neck and tie or to tie it in a bow and let it hang over my shirt. Yours looks lovely though!!! I'm a huge fan of the colour/print, where'd you find it?

  35. You look so pretty, I love the shoes and the white skirt, that blazer ain't bag either. I love silk scarves myself but I am not silk tying inclined, I've had to watch youtube videos to figure out how to tie them. The pattern on this scarf is really beautiful! I hope you have a fab weekend!

  41. i've always been a little intimidated by silk scarves. i hardly wear them for fear of ruining them somehow. silly, i know. when i do wear them i do so just like you've done here. simply, yet elegantly tied around the neck :)

and my, this scarf is lovely! just the thing for spring! oh, and the lighting in the third photo is gorgeous, btw.
