the magic that is mike

these shoes are now only $54.99 via 6pm!

I probably watch way too many movies for my own good, but it's a hard habit to break. A friend and I went to see Magic Mike a few days ago despite the awful reviews, because, you know, Channing Tatum. Actually, I'm not a Tatum fan, I just like watching men dance naked.

Anyway, we thought the theater was going to be packed,  but it turns out, only 6 people wanted to see it on a Sunday afternoon. Four very old ladies sat right up in the very front of the theater, each with a little compartmentalized box of popcorn, candy, and a space for a small soda. They were quietly munching on each popped kernel, but as the money shot came (pun intended, of course) onscreen, they started giggling, hooting, and throwing bits of popcorn at each other. It wasn't even that impressive of a money shot. Trust me.

I'll confirm it now: it's an awful, awful movie. On the drive home, I tried to make sense of some unnecessary scenes and characters. (That's just my normal post-movie ramble), and my friend (the sweetheart that she is) politely stopped me in the middle of it, saying I was putting way too much thought to interpreting it. Severely lacking in all the major story element, but go ahead and see it anyway for the "dances," albeit short. And keep your eye on the tall, old man Tarzan. He never even attempts to dance.

  1. LOL, I'm happy to read an honest review of the movie - I think I'd probably feel the same way about it in the end.

Your shoes are darling! And I love the lace cardi and pretty necklace! Very pretty look overall!

  6. Your too funny, I still haven't seen that movie. Guess I'll wait till it comes on demand since it's not that good. If I want to see Joe Manganiello shirtless I'll watch True Blood ;) lol

  10. Well it was the lord's day after all, I'm not surprised there were only a couple sinful and scandalous old ladies. I went to see it (because I too like to see men dance naked), the weekend it came out with a group of gals. We went to Cineabar (bar...and cinema...dangerous), anywhooore, the ladies at this place were going crazy. Hooting and hollering and whistling and just gah gah gah go insane (Ke$ha style). But I suppose that's what happens when you give 400 women too much to drink and let them watch sexy men take off their clothes....

Anyhoot! I love the beautiful lacey cover up and the matching shoes:)

  12. I went to see Magic Mike on opening night with my best friend. The first two shows of the night SOLD OUT and we had to buy advance tickets to the final show because it was about to be sold out too. I didn't expect it to be anything but a fun movie and it seemed like a Sundance movie to me! Strange but entertaining :). Loving the outfit, especially the necklace!

  13. i didn't really like the movie either... stupid story line, and it actually wasn't as lighthearted as i thought it should have been. i was looking to laugh more. also, there wasn't enough nudity for me... i wanted more, haha!! i read the 50 shades books (and hated them).. did you read them? i definitely think i read too much into them.

    cute outfit, btw. lovely cardigan.

  14. I just couldn't bring myself to see it...way more nudity than I want (maybe we differ on that one, haha) and just seemed like a pointless flick. But yeah, I've been on a movie binge lately too! I have watched The Artist like three times this month...and Deja Vu 'cause I love Denzel.
