Now that I'm working from home, I don't get to socialize as much as I used to. I sometimes feel like I'm having "People Withdrawals," so I make an event out of any time that I get to hang out with friends, run errands, or buy supplies.

I wore this outfit to get scissors, decorative tape, and to hunt for colored staples, which is impossible to find in my  neck of the woods. Because people don't apparently dress up to get crafting supplies, I got major glares and a lot of hushed whispers as I perused the aisles in my local craft shop. But all of those were overshadowed by the sweet cashier who gushed over the combination of blues and purples in my outfit as she rang me up. She squealed at every Hello Kitty implement I pulled out of my purse. Instant Friends.

Today is another stay at home day, but I've already got a lot of stuff done, and it's not even noon yet. I may just reward myself with a trip to the coffee shop for a piping hot holiday beverage!

Happy Monday :)

  1. Super cute outfit and bag! I hear you about the working from home thing, too. I have mostly enjoyed my experience, but it gets lonely sometimes.

  2. I am pretty sure I have the sister to your skirt! I thrifted mine too and it has been one of my favorite thrifted finds to date. I love how you paired the skirt with the purple sweater and your shoes. Your make up looks awesome too. Heather

  3. I cannot get over those shoes! They are so much fun. I also love your winged eyeliner (yessssss I'm a beauty blogger, these are the things I notice :P). Also, I love your belt. I need more belts but I think they're some of the hardest things to buy so I never bother and then I never have one to wear. ._.

  4. I work quite a lot remotely, and often go to cafes ... it helps sometimes when missing social settings, great way to also change your environmental element. Adoring the electric hues in these photos. Your outfit is gorgeous!

  5. I'm squealing over all those purple and blue hues myself - love it!

  6. I love the combination of colors in this outfit, too! And what, don't any artsy people go shopping for crafting supplies these days? Ugh.

I always get stared out when I'm out of New York. One of the reasons I don't like to leave the city.

  7. I love the skirt, triple love the sweater and the Hello Kitty bag is too cute! And yes, I get the people withdrawal thing too, while it's been nice not having my boss around much right now, it also is weird not talking to anyone all day long!

two of my favorite colors together in this outfit. ;)
due to the storm, i am having a partial vacation since my downtown work place is not ready, yet.
i feel like dressed up and go out as well although my outfit would be in the usual mono tones. ;)

  14. Those shoes are amaaaazing....

And yeah, I work from home a lot too. Sometimes I get ridiculously dressed up to go to the drugstore. Other times I go to actual work wearing something completely schlumpy. It's funny how mood affects your dressing, and vice versa.

  22. I can totally understand people withdraws!! When I was working from home I felt like I was going insane. I realized that I had to get out of the house at some point everyday, whether it was just going to the mall to walk around or going to starbucks to read. It can get really lonely to be by yourself all day!! On a different note, I LOVE this color combo! That blue skirt looks gorgeous on you and the HK purse, of course I'm obsessed!

Don't worry, I get people withdrawals too. It's hard for me to find time to hang out with people when there's so much school work to do! So I understand.

  31. I've been out of the office for a month and I miss the hallway which used to be my runway. But I don't think I'm ever gonna miss the stress. I hate being too attached to people, too. Makes me too dependent on them sometimes. Lovely skirt, btw. And I love dressing up for no reason. Yeah, work at home really rocks! :p

    love the vibrant blues here!!

  37. I work alone at least 2 days a week, either in the office or at home so I completely understand your withdrawals. Hooray, another lady who dresses up for errands, you should see what I wear to the grocery store, you can never be overdressed in my opinion! I will never get enough of those fab shoes!

  38. Those shoes are just killer! I love the multi color blue straps, they're very geometric looking. (I'd always thought Jelly-pop just made super girly shoes but after seeing these beauties, I'm going to have to check them out now!) That long pleated skirt is pretty gorgeous as well, it looks like it would be really fun to walk in and feel it swishing. :)

  39. Beautiful blue outfit ! I would die for those shoes !!!

  40. What the what?! How in the world were people whispering negatively about your fabulous outfit?! I would have been so chuffed to see someone dressed up like you at my local craftstore by in Atlanta (you would fit right in here in Edinburgh - nobody would bat an eyelash- except in appreciation).
Oh and I so understand the people withdrawals, Laura. This past year, I worked from home and hated it for that reason. It was all compounded by the fact that we were some place new and didn't have friends to go out and gab to on breaks.
Happy hot-holiday drinking - nom nom nom!
