holidaze

1: I'm not very good at decorating spaces, plus we have very little free space to work with, so this was our little Christmas corner.
2: Over the holidays we played tons of new boardgames. One of my favorites was Egizia, which is more of a non-competitive board game perfect for sore losers like moi.
3: holiday guacamole, which is the same as regular guacamole but  just seems to taste more festive.
4: my husband,B, made the most scrumptious from scratch vanilla custard tarts topped with blackberries.
5: he also made peppermint cookies with dark chocolate bottoms. They're a sinful treat.
6: we made a bevy of DIY ornaments for our wee potted tree. My favorite ornament has to be this clay Starro figure that B made.
7: Every once in a while, I miss Filipino food. I made some slow cooked pork, akin to Crispy Pata, but without the hassle of frying. Lots of bread sauce was had that day.
8: Almond cookies with tea to break the rich food monotony.

  1. You make minimalism look so good, though! I'm jealous. I would also like a tart please.

  6. Ugh, for some reason, your site still doesn't show up in my blog feed so I always end up catching your posts late. All these treats look delicious, I love anything in tart shells (well maybe not anything) and anything almond - yum! I wish I could get my fiance to bake, he has a little difficulty in the kitchen. I'm always up for finding a new board game, I will have to check this one out.

  7. I'm not big on decorating, either! Even when we have a real home, I think it will be pretty spartan, LOL.

i think your Christmas deco was perfect. i didn't really decorate my place (had just a few ornaments) but the mini trees were something i would have liked for my apt. as well. ;)

  11. New games are always fun. I got a super skinny tree, since our house is pretty small.

  15. I kind of went overboard with the decor this year..at least overboard for our small space LOL I love all of the delicious looking things that you had over the holidays - especially the slow cooked pork/crispy pata..on a slow cooker?! How did you do that?! We had lechon, but it's not quite the same as crispy pata!! This might sound silly, but what do you eat with bread sauce? Happy New Year again and Happy Birthday month to both of us :)

  16. Your Christmas corner is so cute! And peppermint cookies dipped in chocolate? Mmmm :) I used to make chocolate chip cookies dipped in Frango mints, but the dipping always seems like so much work so I haven't done it in a while. It's cool that your husband likes to bake!
