It's been a little silent at my end of the rainbow as I've had a lot of things on my mind lately. Usually, at this time in January, I'm eagerly anticipating my costume birthday party, but alas, I'm not having one of those this year. Apart from my birthday falling on the a Monday, aka the lamest of all days, there's just so much else that's been preoccupying me.

I'm trying to refocus and de-stress by just shutting myself in the house and doing the things I like to do. In the past couple days I've actually read a few books, watched a couple movies that have been on my queue for a while now, and even made time for home-cooked breakfasts. In case you're wondering, I promise I'm not depressed. I just needed a little bit of quiet me time.

A lot of my time has also been spent making new items for the store. I'm really excited about adding new designs and new cellphone charms as part of the shop now, so make sure to take a gander when you have the time. ALSO, to celebrate my upcoming birthday, I'm planning a gigantic sale for the 14th. More details in the coming blog posts, so keep an eye out! I swear, it's gonna be huge!

  1. Birthday parties can end up being too much trouble sometimes. Last year I had a bunch of people over but the year before that I just did a movie theather that served dinner with my husband. I hope things calm down for you, and your lip color inspired me to throw on some shiny gloss today to perk up my boring outfit.

  2. I think it is such a good thing to take some quiet time, relax and refocus. I've been doing a similar thing recently, and it has been good for the soul. Love that key necklace!

  3. I wish I had more me time -- sometimes I feel so disconnected from things and I know I need to carve out more quiet time to fix it. Also, I love love love the jacket and blazer - they're both so perfectly lovely.

  6. Each birthday year is different Laura. Don't feel bad. Do what you want to do. That's all that matters. I've been in that mood to. Sometimes you just have to take a step back. Totally taking that hello kitty bag and jacket from you. They're both so cute! Can't wait to hear about your sale.

  7. I think we all deserve a little bit of quiet "me" time every now and then. It helps re-charge our batteries. Mondays are pretty lame, sorry your birthday falls on Monday! Now that you said that, my birthday falls on a Monday too. Bummer! Heather

  10. Hey Laura I've been the same. January Blues I call them. It's my birthday month as well and time just seems to drag on until that day. Takes forever to get here! Plus there's less light, it's cold and all that stuff. I've been keeping busy with cooking and baking myself. I can hardly wait to see your new stuff for sale!

  12. I'm glad you've taken some time to yourself to focus on doing the things you like. We all need to de-stress and recharge sometimes. Happy birthday month, too!

  13. I think it's natural after the holidays to need a little time to recharge and destress a bit! Nothing wrong with that! And ugg, birthdays on Mondays, boo. Mine was on a Sunday this year which didn't feel much better actually. I hope you still do something fun even if you aren't having a costume party.

  14. Quiet time is always nice. I've been knitting and last night I taught myself the basic crochet stitch...although that wasn't really "quiet" after a while, because damn, crocheting is way harder than knitting. My hand spasmed.

  16. Me time is good, take all the me time you need. I feel like I get so little me time lately and I know how important it is. You look cute, I love that hello kitty purse, you have the best hello kitty stuff. I think I'm one of the only people who likes Mondays but that is only because my fiance doesn't work Mondays, well until Feb so in February I will go back to hating Mondays like a normal person haha. Your blog is showing in my feed again, yay!

  18. It's always good to have time to reflect. :)

My birthdays are always low key. It typically falls on Mother's day (or that weekend), so going out is hard to do...Everyone and their mother goes out for Mother's day! The best birthday I ever had was a surprise picnic planned by my husband!

Hope you have a nice Wednesday!!

  24. Ok, typically I would have agreed with you about Monday being the lamest day of the week however, life circumstances have turned that awkward ugly day into "Maaaagic Monday". It's the day where my husband and I are kid free long enough that we take off, go to the movies and have a lunch date. That said, I totally relate to needing this quiet you time. I find I go quiet when I'm feeling the most creative. Get your craft on girlie! I'm not even going to tell you how jealous I am of your argyle tights. I'm still learning the shopping ropes here and haven't found a good source for Hue or Hue like tights yet. Hue are my faves. I'll just have to live vicariously through you for now.

  25. I work on Sundays as an art/nursery teacher at one of the local UU churches in my town so Mondays are usually a rest day for me, but I agree monday birthdays are blargh. I usually prefer them on the end of the week.

  28. Glad you are taking some quiet me time, Laura. I think everyone needs time to do that -- decompress from the stress of the holidays (even if it was fun and/or exciting holiday stress). As an introvert I'm all about me time or I sort of fall apart. Thanks for the reminder that it's a good thing to do!

  29. Everyone needs "me" time, I think we all get so worn down with the holidays that we need time to recovered and relax a little bit. Plus, January is just one of those weird months, there's nothing going on, it's cold and dark, so perfect time to relaxing, watching movies and reading. ;) I hope you've been able to relax and enjoy yourself a little bit!
