The procrastinating packer

dress: Target
cardigan, boots: thrifted
rings: Vintage finds
cat necklace: Forever 21
Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Most of my mine was spent "pre-prepping" for my upcoming trip. I spent Saturday afternoon vintage shopping with a very good friend of mine, M, who also helped me bleach my unsightly roots. I finally scored the  sweetest suitcase I'll be taking along with me, and it's the cutest, little find! I'll be sure to share it with you later this week.
My husband and I also hung out with M and her man later on for a night of boardgaming, yummy food, and Argo, whose nomination for an Oscar boggles me. It was a decent movie, I thought, but not Best Picture-worthy. Then again, my favorite movie of all time, which I think should win Best Picture of Forever is The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, so..
Most of Sunday was spent cleaning up my craft room until I uncovered a whole box of bows I had made when I first opened my shop. I stopped selling bows a while back since my felt work took up most of my time, so I still have a lot of fabric waiting to be sewn. Instead of listing them on Etsy, I decided to sell most of my bows on Instagram, instead, as well as other hair accessories I've been making. So far, so good! I've made a few sales and some custom orders. Selling on Instagram is awesome and saves on listing and store fees. So if you're looking for cute hair accessories like bows and clips, check it out!
Today is gonna be spent packing and packing and packing. I have such a short attention span that I already know that it's gonna take me the bulk of the day to get everything I need in order. I tend to get bored doing monotonous things, so I know I'll be dawdling.
Do you like packing? How do you make it seem like it's not such a chore?

  1. I really like your floral outfit today! Packing pretty much sucks. I end up packing for the whole family it seems, so my work is always cut out for me. Can't wait to see your new suitcase. Heather

  2. Good luck with packing - I'm not a fan of it either, I actually find it weirdly stressful.

  3. I like this outfit. I need to start adding more dresses to my wardrobe, skirts too.

I always wait until the last few hours to pack. I'm not sure why. I make a list of everything I think I'll need though and I ALWAYS pack extra underwear. The list makes me think of the small things I'll need. Phone charger, iPod, extra hair tie.

  4. I dislike packing. I am also packing at the last few minutes. I make crazy lists for days ahead of time though because I am always worried I'll forget something!

I love your floral and the pretty purple sweater! And I can't wait to see what you found vintage shopping!

  5. Hi! You look amazing! Love the print of the dress and your hair <3<3

    Love sushi and fashion

  6. I love your outfit. I love your hair. The Two Towers is my favorite LOTR movie (I mean who does not love walking trees?). ;)

  7. That is such a cute and girly dress! Love the floral print!

  8. For the most part, packing truly stresses me out. Though I sometimes enjoy putting together different outfit options. Love this floral dress!

  9. I love the high contrast photos. The floral print looks beautiful on you! Uhh, packing ... I know that all too well! Good luck! xx/Madison

  10. I'm a horrible packer! We just booked our tickets for vacation in April and I'm already stressing about what to pack! The only advice I can impart is plan daily outfits and pack half of what you think you really need!

  11. Your hair color is amazing and I am loving the floral dress and vintage booties. Good luck packing today!

  12. I am in love with your floral dress! I need one for the spring.

  13. Packing is the worst. I always end up packing too much if I don't lay out every outfit and that takes forever!
I really love your floral dress and pretty purple cardigan. Your hair color looks amazing paired with purple!

  14. A few years ago, I used to watch all the Oscar nominated movies. Then I realized how pretentious it all was and how I didn't even really enjoy all the movies. I'm sticking to my summer blockbusters now!

  15. Lol, you and your LoTR nomination. You can write it in I'm sure, doesn't matter that it's the wrong year or anything ;P

soooo, I think I want the rose bow with the sparkly pink middle. I don't have instagram to leave my info, but can you invoice me?

  16. I HATE packing!! I will do anything to get out of packing!! It's probably why I end up packing 11 shirts and 1 pair of pants for a 4 day weekend to places...:)

  17. I have a love/hate relationship with packing. The finished product typically represents an exciting vacation/trip/adventure. Something good. The process of getting to that finished product...meh. I create stacks of things. Second guess myself. Try and fit it in the smallest suitcase I want to carry and for heaven's sake, please let me not have to check anything in. The airline once lost a large, expensive, high end (cough, cough) bag I'd packed to accommodate myself, my husband, and my newborn son. I figured once everything was said and done, I was out about $1,500. In the end, the airline found my bag and returned it to me the day before our trip was over and we flew back. I got to find the tiny pieces of my head and glue them back together and will never fly again without travelers insurance. (That covers lost luggage right??? Oh great! Now I have to go check that!) Have fun on your trip!!

  18. I love your dress. I have always loved floral patterns on dark backgrounds.

I hate packing. I procrastinate at it and I am horrible at it. I am a huge overpacker. I find it difficult to convince myself that I don't need every single thing in my closet.

  19. I really liked Argo, so I was happy to see it win. The Two Towers is a pretty good movie too!

  20. I loathe packing...actually I think I loathe unpacking even more, hence the suitcase that sat in my bedroom for six months after returning from vacation. I think I need to hire a professional suitcase packer and unpacker to help me out when I go away (wouldn't that be nice?)

Anyhow, I am quite loving the pink florals in your dress with the purple sweater and green hair. It reminds me of a candy shop :-) You are so pretty Laura!

Best wishes with packing darling gal!
    xo Marisa

  21. I've been wearing florals this winter, too! Today is a hot house floral day, in fact.

I don't like packing. I take way too much time with clothes, and I have to take photos of finished outfits and their accessories clumped together. And I'm like psychotic about it, especially if I forget to put something in the photo.

  22. i can't wait to see you new suitcase! i know it's cute! my problem is not so much packing, but not taking too much! hahaha glad to hear business is going well.

  23. I tend to overpack when going on a trip..whether it's two hours away for two days or 24 hours away for three weeks. Doesn't matter. I always say "just in case" and most of the time I don't use 1/3 of what I put in my luggage. However, the worst is not having something that I should've packed. haha. Then there's always going to the store and getting new stuff - which would be the last resort. Either way, packing is not one of my favorite things to do when going on the trip, besides going through security in the airport.

  24. I always over pack... a lot... so I always end up all frustrated... anyway, love your dress!! xx

  25. what i like about packing? it means that i'm going somewhere!!! but i do tend to overpack! love the purple cardigan!

  26. All kinds of lovely this is! I've been bitten by the spring bug and all I want to wear now are floral prints. Pace yourself, Emily. Spring is still a few weeks off ;)

  27. Heh, I personally hate packing, I always wait until the last moment and then I just end up with a badly packed suitcase when I get there. :P
I love seeing this bright floral dress with the black background on you, it is SO striking with your green hair, it's like a perfect match. (I love your green hair so much, it's so pretty and it's just the perfect shade of green. I wish I wasn't so lazy when it comes to upkeep, I'd love to try a pretty shade like this but like I said, bad at up-keeping. I'll have to live vicariously through you.) I got side tracked there, back to the pretty dress, the pinks and red looks so pretty on you, you really can wear any color!

your comments make my day. thanks! ♥
