Joke's on Me

Charlotte Russe dress:: thrifted cardi:: Hot Topic Joker tee:: Forever 21 glitter creepers:: H&M Hello Kitty socks:: DIY star clips::
I just realized that I haven't gone to a comic convention in two years, and that makes me really sad. Apart from time constraints, conventions can be extremely expensive for impulsive people like me who drop hundreds of dollars on art work and books of their favorite artist because they get dumbstruck and beet-red shy when said favorite artist start talking to them about non-comics stuff.

It happened. I have proof. I'm still recovering (from the shame, mostly).

I don't often wear tees anymore, even though I am extremely proud of my comic book themed shirt collection. Mostly it's because I prefer to slip on a dress, and most of the skirts I have for pairing with tees are too blow-up-in-the-wind-y.  In fact, I changed out of this dress shortly after these pictures because...mooning.

I hope today is treating you well. I just spent the morning finishing a fresh and bright blog layout for Heather and Kayla, which I am really pleased with. If you're looking for a blog layout lift, please drop me a line! Other than that, I have a few orders to finish and mail off before I start making some new plushies for the shop. Happy Tuesday!

  5. I have a pretty huge collection of band t-shirts that I also never really get the chance to wear anymore but I do love trotting one of them out on occasion (i.e. see today's post!).

  6. Laura, you did a great job with their layout! I loved it. I've always wanted to go to a comic con. There's always something fun at them. Love your Joker tshirt! >.<

  7. I'm a girly girl but that doesn't mean I don't realize the value in owning some great tees. It often saddens me when I am searching my closet for a tee to put on to only realize that I am seriously lacking in the tee shirt department.

I love your black glittery shoes.

  8. "blow-up-in-the-wind-y"?! Hahahahaha -- love it, Laura! And I 100% relate. A strong breeze here qualifies for a calm Scottish day so I've avoided all skirts unless they are pencil/fitted.
I love, love, love your creepers and your attachment to comics + fashion -- you make me want to read comics, which I usually don't want to do just because ... erm... I don't even know where to start.

Hope you are having a lovely week, lady! Good luck to your hubs on his defense!

  9. I almost sprung for some similar shoes recently...glitter is the best. And sadly, I've never been to a comic convention, though I've wanted to attend one for years. Maybe now that I'm in Chicago I can make it happen.

  10. Lol, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has wind issues. I haven't worn many dresses since "spring" started because they just blow up in the wind and I am running low on cute underwear.

  11. Thanks again for the blog layout. It's great!

I would love to go to Comic-con or something like that. We had a dance thing for the little one and there was a toy show going on at the same venue. We came out and there were Starship Troopers, Spiderman, and all kinds of Star Wars characters hanging outside. It was so cool! It was funny seeing the little dancers posing with Chewbacca, ha ha!

  16. I'm so sorry you haven't been able to go to a comic convention in so long, what a bummer. I've always wanted to go to one but haven't had the chance. Looking great as usual Laura!

  18. Gorgeous job on their layout!! You look super, I wear tshirts in the house sometimes, I used to wear them all the time, but stopped since I wear dresses more now. Sorry you haven't gone in a long time to the convention, I've never been to one at all, they look interesting though, maybe one day!! Have a great day doll x

  20. It's hard to let go of favorite old t-shirts, isn't it? A few of my band tees have ended up a pj tops, but my old Threadless shirts (from, geez, 8 or 9 years ago) just hang out in my dresser. I should start wearing them every now and again.

Your side braid looks so gooood :)
