Don't call me "ma'am" unless...

dress: H&M :: mint belt: thrifted :: Hello Kitty knee highs: H&M kids:: creepers: thrifted &DIY::
rose cardigan: GAP:: Hello Kitty panda purse: Hot Topic :: collar: eBay:: doughnut necklace: my shop
lipstick: NYX matte lipstick in Shocking Pink

Thank you for all the congratulatory wishes you sent our way! The celebration weekend was a success. We ate, drank, hung out, and plopped around in excess. I even had pasta for the first time in months (which I now deeply regret because I feel like a bloated mess) Now it's time to get back to "normal" living, which means laundry and lots of it. ugh.

This has got to be one of my favorite outfits to date. It's so simple, fuss-free, and extremely comfortable. I was going for a kawaii meets your grandmother look, hoping that my "youthfulness" would make it less of the latter and more of the former, but I still got called "ma'am" by a super sweet not-a-day-over-20 year old while ordering my food at Panera. But even though she addressed me as "ma'am,"  she finished that sentence with "your whole outfit is perfection" and made my day.

I can only hope I look this cute when I get grandmother-old.

  5. Ugh, I dislike the use of "ma'am"! It always makes me feel old or like the person is saying "screw you" or something! But you know what, you look cute, and I think it's awesome she said your outfit is perfection even after calling you ma'am!

  13. Lol I get in the ma'am debate with people all the time. Being in a military community, we get people from all over the country. A lot of people here are implants from the south and they ma'am you left and right. Haaaaaaaate it.

  16. I live in the south and they ma'am everyone who they think could even be a minute older than them. I don't like it but I try to ignore it! I assume it's not because I look old because I know I don't look old haha.
Anyway, this dress is wonderful with the crochet collar and mint green belt and shoes. So cute!

  18. You look gorgeous. I get called ma'am sometimes, it makes me laugh, though sometimes I get asked for ID, so it depends. I think you look gorgeous and very youthful, so let's hope we keep these looks when we're pushing 50 ;) xx

  20. I can't figure out why anyone would ma'am you! I, on the other hand, am ma'amed on a regular basis, but I am 35 so that makes sense, haa haa.

    Yes, your outfit is perfection!

  21. Haha, I grew up with northern parents in a southern state. I didn't ever say ma'am. However, since leaving the south and then coming BACK, I now call EVERYone ma'am. Three year olds, teenaged girls, little old ladies... It's just polite around here. I also like to call students (even kindergarteners) either Ms.__ or Mr. ____. Makes them giggle to be called "their parents' names." :)

  22. I get "ma'am"-ed a lot and while inwardly in drives me nuts, I can always tell that the person saying it is just being polite. Still, some people think I look 14 and others call me ma'am... haha!

I'm glad the cashier at Panera followed your "ma'am" up with such a nice compliment! She's right! And, I am convinced that your rose cardigan can do no wrong :D

  23. You are adorable! I love everything about your outfit! Half of it I couldn't wear because I am grandmother age and my kids would think I'm trying to act young LOL...but I so enjoy seeing your daily outfits and I get inspired in my own way :) I've been reading...

  24. I get ma'am all the time, actually... but I prefer that to people thinking I'm fourteen. Which I could probably pass for if I tried.

I majorly like this outfit, too.

I find it weird when I get called ma'am also, makes me feel old!

  29. This is one of those outfits that would bring big broad smiles to people's faces (like mine). It's so cheerful and light-hearted. My only quibble is I'd have loved a close up of the socks to see what's on them! They look like submarines from afar? but since they're Hello Kitty I think probably not submarines!
