Operative word: Slowly

diy paperbag skirt:: Forever 21 top, belt:: Old Navy sandals:: gifted bracelets

Though I'm under blankets as I type this post, when I wore this outfit two days ago, it was a stifling 85F. Wonky weather, you are no friend of mine.

I'm not particularly thrilled with how this outfit looks, but I do like how my hair is looking a little bluer ever since I started adding some aqua dye to my normal teal solution.  My plan is to slowly transition from teal to something more blue then perhaps go purple and then pink. The operative word is "slowly" as in, "it may take months or years," especially because I want to maintain the length and general hair health. Any of you DIY hair mavens have any tips for transitioning from one shade to another? I've heard a lot of good things about bleach baths, but I actually haven't had the balls to try it.

Apart from doting on my hair, I've been cooped up in the house mostly because of the heat, but now because it's super cold and rainy. I've been filling my days with crafting and checking out some of your book recommendations. If you wanna see what I'm currently reading, check my Goodreads account, and let me know what you're reading too :)

  1. I think your outfit looks great - I love the color of the skirt! And a slow hair transition seems like a sound idea. I always do it really quickly (with a lot of bleach and color stripping involved) and, as a result, have pretty much permanently fried my hair at this point.

  9. It's nice and chilly here today, too. We're having a repeat tomorrow supposedly which, for me, translates to one more day of sweater weather :)

Your slow color transition sounds like a good plan, especially if you want to maintain your hair's health and length. Your teal and teal-blue tresses have looked great so far. I can't wait to see if/when you try out purple and pink.

  11. I think your outfit is nice and I see the difference in your hair :). If you want to fade a straight dye, hair oil (or just olive oil) might work, just put A LOT of it on your hair (=soak your hair in it, leave on for as long as you can and wash well.. repeat as often as you may wish. It has worked for me to lighten my bright dyes.
    Have a happy weekend ^^

  13. So it's not my imagination! You're hair IS getting bluer. That's awesome. I totally do not have the courage to do what you're doing color wise. Sounds like you've got a great plan though. I WISH it was 85 at ANY point here lol. Gentle colors - great wardrobe diversity for you super feminine. ;)

  14. The crazy weather is killing me too! I am actually looking forward to the heat, but I think that novelty will wear off after Week 1 of 95 degree temps.

I love your hair the teal color!

  15. I think you always look beautiful. Your hair does look bluer. Very pretty. I love that the weather has cool off. I am not looking forward to the weeks on end of 90-100 degree temps.

  16. You look so summery! I've never done a bleach bath, but they are supposed to be gentler on hair than other methods. I damaged mine badly when I had red put it in it once at the salon, so yeah, best to go slowly.

  22. A bleach bath sounds horrifying. But then again, I've never dyed my hair.

  23. i really like the colors in your outfit! i used to work in salons, so i never did my own hair (color). i especially don't trust myself when it comes to bleach! i bet the pink will look really nice on you.
