Vampiric

lace cardigan: TJMaxx:: dress: H&M :: gold flats:GAP :: specs: Coastal
nails: Wet nWild fast dry in Buffy the Violet Slayer as base, 2 coats of Pure Ice in Cheatin

The weather has been unbearably hot lately, so I've spent most of my time indoors with the blinds and curtains shut to keep the sunlight and warmth from coming in. Sounds almost vampiric, right?

Speaking of vampires, I've been currently obsessing over Vampires in the Lemon Grove, a book of short stories by Karen Russell. I'm only a couple of stories in, but I'm already hooked on Russell and her storytelling. I'm already planning on reading her other books. The stories in this book have weirdly intriguing subjects like lemon-eating vampires and metamorphosing girls, and her prose is crafty, heartfelt, and downright beautiful. It's a great book to wile away a balmy afternoon.

  1. That book sounds really interesting - I need some good summer reads as well, I'll have to check it out. And I love your lacy white sweater, it has such a great vintage feel to it.

  4. I got distracted because I have those glasses too. I don't think I noticed you had them or I would have not jacked your style, lol. I kind of don't like them, they look stupid on me. I wanted them to look cute like on you. Who knew you needed to have a cute face for that to work? Not this girl!

  18. This outfit, THOSE SHOES <3

I'm still not sure how I feel about Karen Russell. I tried twice to get through St. Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves. While I liked most of the stories I read, my attention span for the rest of them diminished rapidly. Too much of a good thing, maybe.

  19. I stay inside a lot of the summer due to the horrible heat too, so I understand. And bright sun hurts my eyes! It's okay to be a little bit of a vampire in the summer, I think!
I really really love this nail polish you're wearing. The lace cardigan looks perfect paired with your classic black dress too.
