Back to Basics

My hair is black, you guyz.

To be honest, I knew it was inevitable. It took me a long time to finally assemble all the supplies and the gumption, but here it is.  And no, I'm not sad or angry. I've been coloring my hair ever since I was a sophomore in high school, and that's not likely going to stop anytime soon. Right now, I just need something uncomplicated and low maintenance, and what's easier than reverting to your natural hair color?

On the oompa-loompa-retro-esque hair style, I was experimenting with victory rolls, curling techniques, and parting my hair differently. I'm not so skilled in the hair fixing department, and I was planning on letting it down later in the day, but B and I decided on an impromptu run for Chinese pastries since we live really close to one (Have I mentioned I love St. Louis?) and I simply forgot to take the pins out. I dunno though, I kind of like their shape!

  4. I pretty much always think your hair looks amazing no matter what colour it is (I would seriously kill for locks as long and thick and healthy looking as yours)...and those shapes do look really cool!

  10. Your styling skills far surpass mine. I wish I could do something (anything!) with my frizzy mess of a mane. I will miss your mermaid hair, but I'm pretty sure there is no hair color that would look bad on you.

  11. You're so lucky you look so fabulous with such dark hair. I've always wanted to wear black but it looks terrible on me for some reason. I think your experimentation is fantastic. I have such a hard time with victory rolls in mine. You're rocking it!

  23. I like the black and I understand wanting something easy to maintain. When I had red hair...having to bleach and color all the time. Ugh.

When I went to work today my coworkers told me another girl at work also colored her hair black...but it doesn't look good on her. I had to chuckle.

  24. Very cute hair do missy, love the rolls :)

And I agree with the maintenance, I often think of dyeing my hair to it's natural colour, but it's like a boring mousey brown so no way! I just need to deal with getting it touched up every 6-8 weeks

  25. Oh, I know how you feel! I had brightly coloured hair for nearly 10 years straight, and then went 'ombre' in July. While I do miss the colour, lord it's nice to be able to give my hair really great washes as often as I want & not have to re-dye it all the time!!
I love the style you have it in! I think it looks fab!

  26. You look lovely with black hair again! And now you can do experimenting with other things other than color; the retro style looks absolutely gorgeous on you. Also, I love your blouse. You are such a hottie!

May the Force be with you.

  27. Lookin' good, Laura! I loved the photo you shared on Instagram the other day. And, the curled ends and victory rolls! So good! From the maintenance standpoint I completely understand reverting to your natural shade. The rich black is gorgeous.

  28. I'm about to go with black again myself to hide my silvering hair - it also helps my job chances.
