If you’ve poked around the blog in the last couple of days you may have noticed that the commenting system is a bit different. After mulling about it for over a year, I finally took a big leap and switched over to using Disqus! In the last few months, I’ve noticed a decreased number of comments in the blog even though my viewing stats have increased. I’m not sure what the reason for this may be, but to be honest, I’m glad I’m getting fewer comments.
You see, as a courtesy, when someone takes the time to read what I’ve written and leaves a comment, I usually visit their blog, read, and try to comment back. That’s how I have been able to find many of the blogs I now regularly read and make connections with so many unique and like-minded people from all over the world. But in these times when everyone has a blog and seems way too concerned about stats and comments, I’m not so sure that I feel obligated to return a comment for a copy/pasted “Love your blog, visit mine” comment left on my posts.
I suppose now I’m much more interested in conversing, even if it’s just a little “thank you” back. I really love being part of the blogging community, and I think moving in this direction will help me make more meaningful relationships with other bloggers and readers out there. I would, honestly, have lesser comments from people who are genuinely interested and give honest feedback than tons of generalized, impersonal responses. I’m hoping that’ll happen! Fingers crossed!
You guyz, it's 2014! I wish you and yours the Happiest of New Years! Hope you celebrated lots and hard! It's the best way to see off the old and ring in the new!
