A Disqus update with cats

So. It's been a little over a month since I switched to Disqus, and I thought I'd blog about how that's been working out for me. Like I mentioned before, I switched from the Blogger commenting system to Disqus because after a couple years of blogging, I really am more interested in conversing with fellow bloggers/readers instead of just reading/collecting comments. From what I could tell, Disqus offered a better notification and response system in comparison to Blogger, and I also liked that people had to leave their email/name in order to leave comments. I'm all for freedom of speech, but hey, let's all be nice too, you know?

One month later, and I am still loving Disqus. I love that I can respond to comments from my email and keep conversations going without having to check my blog to see if someone has responded. I know that some readers have had problems leaving comments on Disqus, but I think if you signed up for a free account, and logged into that before commenting, it shouldn't be a problem. At least that's how I solved my own commenting problems from a while back. So yeah, I don't see myself reverting to the old commenting system or switching to a new one just yet.
On to this cat dress that seems to be getting a lot of limelight in the blog. (1, 2, 3) It's getting really hard for me not to wear this dress everyday. And I probably would do it if I wasn't seen by the same people everyday. I think this winter is taking a toll on my outfit planning. Most days, I wake up wishing it was just a little bit sunnier, and I feel like the only remedy for that is wearing this dress of happy prints. Clearly, I need more animal prints in my closet.

  1. If I owned that dress I would wear it every single day. It's just that awesome.

  3. I adore that dress! I have a kitty dress I plan to wear as soon as I actually get some warm enough weather here....if that ever happens!

  4. I love that you've done this post - to to hear something positive about a commenting system that works right. I know reading upon a blog chat on twitter some people won't use Disqus because they find it has stopped people from commenting because they don't want to have to sign up to another website to comment. Have you found any drop (or even any increase) in the number of comment since adding it?

It's certainly something that's on my to do list when I can find the time to properly work it out and set it up!

  5. Yup, Disqus is good! Mine was not working few days ago, but that was the only time there has been a prob, and I have been using Disqus for over one year.
I like your outfit, as usual! Love the cat dress - and the heels <3 <3 <3 :)

  6. I just switched over to Disqus on friday for my own blog after seeing it on so many others. I am a huge fan! Already I am noticing more of a dialogue on my posts and I feel like all the captchas and comment approval was a deterent.

  10. Of course, I love the dress on you but I love the red tights and powder blue shoe combo even better! This reminds me of the Sallie's dress and her red hair from the book "Daddy-Long-Legs", one of the most beautiful visuals from my childhood readings. ;)

I love leaving comments on Disqus as well but sadly I couldn't install it on my blog for some reason. Plus ever since their updates a couple years ago, the outlook and the fonts doesn't go with individual blog's designs.
I will wait and see what they bring out next!
(Anyway, I like the old blogger comment system way better than the google + comment box. ugh!)

  12. I love this outfit. Everything about it. I wish I had it. All of it.

Glad you're liking the Disqus comment system. It's worked fairly well for me.

On a completely different note, are you going to see the Lego Movie?

  13. KITTIES! But I also love your shoes a whole lot.

Re: Disqus, I'm considering switching over, but I don't want to put off people who aren't used to the system or don't want to make an account.

  14. I'd be lost without Disqus. I go on comment benders and never know where to go back and look for replies. Disqus helps keep me lazy by emailing me everything. Yay laziness!

  15. The good thing with Disqus is you get to comment back and you're notified when someone leaves a comment. I just hate the amount of time it takes to load all comments. Other than that, it's really great. :)

    Lovely cat dress, btw. :)

  18. Glad to hear you liked it Rachel! I noticed that there was a slight drop in commenting, but I've gotten emails from frequent commeters who don't have disqus instead of replying. But really, it's so much more convenient for me!

It's so weird that you can't install it on your blog :( But I'm happy you're finding something that's working for you right now!

  31. Glad to hear this commenting system is working well for you! I like commenting on disqus but don't have problems with the blogger system either.

But anyway, I just love your cat print dress. It's so so cute and looks awesome with those pink tights and fantastic blue heels. So much cuteness going on here. I really don't blame you for wanting to wear that dress all the time!

  32. Those shoes! They're like Mary Janes on acid.

  36. Disqus is good, I really agree. I like it for all the same reasons - love promoting discussions and being able to see them in my inbox. I also like that I get emailed responses to my own comments on other blogs!

And can I say - I love those shoes and tights together! SO cute.

  37. It's good that disqus is not yet problematic. Nice outfit! I loved the black and white combination of cat print dress.
