Grown Up

Happy Friday, friends! I am so stoked for the weekend since this week has been really hectic. I try and fill my free time after work with reading or pursuing crafty or artsy things, but lately, I've been falling short of completing my reading goal or going through my craft supplies. It's a little disheartening, but I try to remind myself that I can't do everything all at once. AND that I have to work on being more patient.

Despite the busy-ness I did, however, manage to finish a few design commissions (something I constantly wish I can have a lot more time learning!)  One of them was for one of my favorite blogs, Sartorial Sidelines. Check out Courtney's new layout here!

It's after finishing a layout that I really feel that I should have pursued something design related during college because the process of visualizing and experimenting thrills me to no end. I definitely have been thinking about how to incorporate more graphic art/design into my blog lately, so I'm hoping I actually get to accomplish those ideas!
Ok. Let's address the elephant in the room. Why do I look so grown up? I asked myself that after looking at these pictures, and then it hit me that I am 29-- a totally grown up grown up. Which, I suppose accounts for why I don't think I look weird wearing an office outfit. I mean, isn't this a typical office outfit? One thing is for sure though, I most definitely need a haircut. Or start really brushing my hair.

blazer: Target
turtleneck: Banana Republic
skirt: Forever 21
booties: Madden Girl

  5. I think this is totally a grown-up outfit and doesn't look out of place on you, but you also don't look like you're 29 ;P I was at the gym yesterday and saw a girl I went to high school with and realized that her face looks NO different than when I used to know her, but I don't think I look the same any more. I hate change.

  9. I love the work you did on that blog! I need to work on mine, too, but I'm having problems with blogger. Someday I'll move to wordpress and sort all that out, but ugh, jsut the idea of it right now is giving me a headache.

  11. A person under 30 is _not_grown_up_!! ;)
I wish I looked as young as you :) And I do love your outfit.

  12. Omg. You so do toooootally look like a grown up! A very chic grown up. I need a haircut in the worst way too and my stylist has gone on a 6 month vacation to Australia. I have a hang up about trying new stylists. I get one that I like and I cling to them for dear life. How about you? Have you already found one you've grown attached to, hunting for one still, or do you not get attached at all?

  13. In love with this blazer. Perfectly striped!

I had my hair cut this week and at least 3 inches taken off. I feel a lot lighter.

  14. Perfect work-wear: appropriate but with a dash of style. And, 29?! I have t-shirts older than that!

  19. Well thanks, Cassy! I am trying to wear more "grown up" pieces even though my office just change their dress code to casual!!!

  21. Thanks Larie! I am probably never moving out of blogger even though I tried wordpress once and really liked it. Maybe if I start another blog, I'll do that instead!

  22. Thanks and thanks!!! I am slowly accumulating some vibrant and printed blazers-- more striking than plain black!

  23. Awwww shucks! But you look so young!

  24. I always wonder, how casual is your causal? I ask because my company says our dress code is business casual, but really it just means jeans with no rips and no sweatpants.

  25. They just changed it to CASUAL CASUAL! As in tshirts, jeans, and tennis shoes!!! I'm at a loss of what to wear now!

  26. Nope I haven't. And I seriously really need one, even just a trim! I mean, B has started making comments on how long my hair is so I think that's a sign, right? WOW 6 months in Australia?! Is she doing a walkabout?

  27. I am hoping I get time to get a cut soon! 3 inches will definitely make a HUGE difference!

  28. I have no idea what she's doing. I just can't even imagine. I could never afford to take a 6 month vacation in a foreign country. My sister-in-law took a working vacation in Australia for a year though. That one I at least understood. She worked while she was there so it made sense. It's one of the reasons I want to get my EU citizenship. It will increase my ability to work where ever I end up. :)

  29. You look great in this outfit and it's still got some youthful flair. I really like the pairing of bold stripes with a gold chain necklace.

  30. Yup, that striped blazer is definitely grown up--but in the best way! Your design for Sartorial Sidelines looks GREAT. Not that I have a budget for this at all, but what are your rates?

  31. I love that blazer and think it looks really cool! I love suits that offer more variety than just plain black. Way to go on that blog layout, too. It looks awesome!
