More goodbyes

Early in December, I mentioned that I was deeply immersed in “The Culling”—my dramatic expression for “cleaning out my closet.”  Over the past year, I noticed that my style has been changing. Between that and having to build a work-friendly wardrobe, I’m left with lots of perfectly fine pieces that don't really work with my current aesthetic or don’t fit me all that well anymore.

Along with this scarf and this shirt I've parted with the pieces below.
L: thrifted and modified dress
R: thrifted velvet blazer (I need to relearn how to braid my hair like that)
L: Aeropostale cardigan, thrifted floral tank, thrifted midi
R: Forever 21 floral top
L: thrifted shirt, Old Navy shorts
R: thrifted polka dot top, purse
L: Charlotte Russe tank
R: thrfted floral blazer
L: Forever 21 sweater
R: thrifted magenta blouse
L: thrifted velvet dress
R: thrifted purple cardi

and yes, I do miss my bright green hair.

  1. Not the velvet thrifted dress! That's such an awesome piece. But, wow, I really respect your resolve with paring down your closet.

  5. Letting go is hard but it's so good, too. I'm gonna have to root through my closet soon because I keep putting on stuff and feeling absolutely no connection to it.

  6. I think I realized why I am holding on to things lately. I tend to donate to Big Brothers/Big Sisters because they drive around and will pick up my bags of stuff from my door (convenient!) But when I do a donation, they are calling and harassing me for more clothes like a week later. How often do these people think I get rid of things??? So for probably 6 months now I have refused to even answer the phone when the call (which is about 3 times per week)

  11. I should totally do a wardrobe cleanup as well. I feel it would be very refreshing. I already got three full bags out last month, but I feel that's not enough. Kudos for being able to let things go, I need to get inspired by you right away and go clean my closet! ♥

  12. I just purged a few things over the weekend, but I have to do more. I've always been a big believer in the capsule wardrobe, but I seem to have so many extra things now... and somehow I still have no shirts? I need to take stock!

  13. I've been purging left and right lately too...mainly things all the fast fashion way too short dresses I purchased in college...hehe. I love all your outfits here though I must admit :-), but I totally here you about your wardrobe style shifting. I have felt like that lately too. I wish I could snag that little blue midi outfit from you, hehe.

  16. I think you've done well, and definitely can understand having to purge pieces that aren't necessarily adding anything to your current career or lifestyle, etc. I've done that in the past. Happy weekend. :)

  18. I think it's great that you have a good understanding of your style and what works/doesn't work for you. I need to take a lesson in this!

  19. Sometimes it is best to just let certain items go! I have definitely done that a few times and really need to do it again soon.
