Where to go, let me know

Happy March, folks! I'm a lot disappointed that the weather is still uninvitingly frigid, but at least we're moving towards the (conventionally) warmer months, right? I've been thinking about going on vacation a lot lately, and I wanted to time it with my wedding anniversary with B in May. In my head, I picture lots of nature hikes, cabin reading dates, and loads of delicious food to try. In the meager spare time I have, I've been hitting the interwebs hard with searches for Maine vacations, but it looks like Maine isn't so good to visit during May? I don't know. Someone tell me.

Or give me some recommendations of places to visit.
In the meantime, I've just been contenting myself with some cozy mysteries (my Instagram feed is revealing a little too much about this guilty pleasure) and scoping out new restaurants to try. Over the past weekend, B and I paid a visit to The London Tea Room (again) but tried some new blends this time. And I've discovered my new favorite flavor of theirs: Mango tea! The wait (yes, even for a cup of tea) is very much worth it.

Later, while driving around the city, we passed by a cute shop La Patisserie Choquette, where we loaded up on macarons and confections. We brought home lavender honey, passion fruit, pistachio, green tea, and chocolate macarons; and picked out a verrine with chocolate, white chocolate, and salted caramel to split.
Do help me with ideas of places to have a relaxing vacation! It would give me something to look forward to in case this (seemingly) neverending winter becomes just that.

  2. Looks like you had a lovely weekend! If I was gearing up for a vacation, I would choose either California or Florida. I feel like those two spots are guaranteed adventure and warm sun!

  3. Those macarons look delicious! I've been dreaming about going on vacation, too, especially since we were hit with yet another snowstorm today. A tropical cruise sounds great right about now!

  4. I LOVE TEA ROOMS! Come to the Bay Area for vacation--it's not super warm (except probably by comparison) but I'll take you to Lovejoy's Tea Room in San Francisco!

  7. I've been dying to go to Maine!! I was just about to book a trip in early June, but I decided against it. I've been go-go-go since August and I want to sit in the sun and let my brain mush, so it's off to FL I go. I love sightseeing and there is just so much to see in Maine! I'd never really relax. :)

  9. In May, the Florida Key's are lovely. Not so sweltering heat like in August, the mosquitoes haven't quite hit their nightmare swing, great culture, beautiful beaches to just escape the cold on. If you want some cabin-y type mountainous hiking experiences, the area surrounding Flagstaff, Arizona is a neat different rustic experience. If you really want to feel cut off from the world with great weather, lush amazing flora and fauna, hiking, Kauai is the bullet to bite. It's smaller than the other islands with less tourist traffic. It might cost a bit more but seriously, it's beyond unreal. Those would be my choices but maybe I'm just weird. :D And to be super clear, Kauai would be my pick. hehehe.

I wish my skin looked as awesome as yours. :( You're so lucky.

  13. Cape Cod is in my to-go-to list! But I'm thinking something more tempered price wise and more rustic.

  17. This is one day that my skin behaved, so don't be jealous. My skin hasn't been "clear" since my Illinois days:( we're actually avoiding florida and as much as we'd love to do Hawaii, we feel like there isn't enough time this year for us to enjoy it.

  27. Now on my research list! Thanks, Kat! And this striped skirt is one of my super loved skirts :) I pretty much only go to F21 for their bodycon skirts.

  28. Go to Cape Cod! It's pricey, but I love it there. I want to go for my birthday this year, but haven't figured out how I would want to work out a place to stay. The place Matt's parents go to would be like $2000 for a weekend :X And even though they have money, he and I do not. At all.

  29. Love your bold coloured/striped skirt! Of course, tea rooms are my favourite! My parents always took me to them growing up so it's sort of a thing culturally and generational as well. I went to Maine for a wedding and enjoyed the food! Right now, all of the places that I have for suggestions are quite cold at the moment or raining season during that time, haha. But what about Victoria B.C., Prague, Bahamas? We went off season!

  30. I have always wanted to go to Maine too, but have never made it, so I don't know if May is a good month to visit or not. I have been to Mackinac Island, MI. Have you been? They have no cars on the island, so it's all horse rides, horse carriages, biking, and hiking. It is a beautiful place to visit. Usually, when I travel I am trying to get into a city, since I already live in the country.

  31. Oh as a Brit that London Tea Room is calling me - and as for mango tea? That sounds delicious!

Sigh, spring feels so far away right now, i'm sure it's a weather crime to be this cold in March?!
