The best kind of velvet

I'm pretty worn out, so I haven't much to say. I, therefore, don't feel guilty leaving you with lots of pictures from a recent park excursion and a silly picture of me eating the hugest whoopie pie I have ever set eyes on. It's red velvet-- the best kind of velvet.

Happy weekend!

  9. You need to try! They're pretty indulgent, but really good. Not this one in particular, but whoopie pies in general :)

  10. Red velvet is my favourite all time everything! A red velvet cake with cream cheese icing and little chocolate covered strawberries decorating the top. Tuxedo style chocolate covered strawberries with a white chocolate strip in the middle. :) That's not specific at all is it?

I love that fountain! The expression is fantastic. Awww now I want a red velvet moon pie. If you have a secret red velvet recipe that is over the moon fantastic, please share. I haven't found one that isn't just cake with red food colouring so far.

  12. I love those shoes. And red velvet is the only good kind of velvet. Velvet material I can't deal with, the feeling of it makes my stomach turn.

  15. Uhm that cake sounds DIVINE. And that's coming from a gal who isn't a cake fan at all! I wish I had a red velvet recipe to share! I haven't found any that aren't just food coloring either, and I really don't know where to get that chocolate for the original recipes. I have encountered recipes that use beet juice for the coloring, but I don't know if I want beets in my cake...

  16. I am glad someone said something about these shoes! I am so obsessed with them. ORANGE. I don't even really like orange! You know, I had a velvet dress once. Then it just wasn't fitting right and had to go away. Velvet is for winter, I think. And cake.

  17. I've tried the beet recipe's I've found as well. They didn't do the trick either. The beet didn't seem to be enough to affect the flavor but the colouring wasn't right. The recipe also called for coffee to be added and that changed the colour to a dark murky brownish red thing. I know that the best versions I've tasted had vinegar in them. Huh, maybe having a cake bake off is the thing? Gather up the best contenders and just go crazy? :D

  18. Hmmm,... red velvet with coffee? that seems really strange. I think that the best ones I've had used vinegar too, but that the chocolate that makes that beautiful red and reacts with the vinegar is pretty hard to find these days since the processing of cocoa has changed a lot. At least that's what I've gathered.
