Stripes

striped shirt: Banana Republic
denim: H&M
sandals: Target
chain necklace: gifted, Forever 21
earrings: The Collective

This is one outfit that I cannot wait to wear again and again. It's so simple and comfortable, but it feels so put together. At least for me! It's partly because of how well I've liked this sheer shirt that I am now obsessed with finding more sheer shirts (in different colors and prints!) to add to my closet. I haven't found any more that fit the way this one does, but I'm not giving up.

  2. Love it! Banana Republic has nice stuff. I don't shop there much anymore as it's a little too dressy for my life now, but when I worked I shopped at the Factory Outlet all the time!

  5. I really love this outfit. I totes get why you enjoy it so much. I really like the intricate design of the earrings with it all. I now know what it's like to have found that one piece in your wardrobe that you love and you want more of, but can't find it. I just bought a new pair of trousers that I'm in love with. I went back to the site I purchased them from and they're all gone in all colours and sizes. :( Sadness.

  6. I like Express for some things, like their Portofino shirts! Love layering those over camis for that put-together but still effortless feel.

  8. This does seem very casual-fancy. I feel like this is the kind of look I wish my casual days came out as.

  9. I concur, this is a great look! I like that the bands on your sandals complement the shirt. Often BR will recycle cuts with new colours so my fingers are crossed you find more like it! Have you checked thrift stores? Sheer shirts have consistently been among my best finds there (including tags-still-on silk).

  10. The stripes are nice, and I like the scale of them. Sheer blouses are great especially for layering and some of my favourites are printed. You look lovely, Laura. xx/Madison

  13. Oh I am hoping that I find this cut again! I haven't ventured the thrift stores yet, though I am sure your thrift stores are better than mine here in STL :(

  16. You're going to think I'm crazy. They're a pair of track pants. They're from Sweaty Betty and they feel like I'm wearing clouds. Semi-silky cotton clouds. I felt awful spending that kind of money on a pair of track pants but they had exactly what I wanted and I couldn't find the design anywhere else. Their finish and detailing means I can throw a silk shirt like what you're wearing on, a pair of flats or heels, maybe a cardi if I feel like it - and still look kind of put together. They brought them back on to the site so I just grabbed a second pair in a different colour. I know it sounds ridiculous but I can't adequately convey how tough a time I've been having with this lately. Take yesterday for instance. I had to do a private session and a small class session of Pilates before sprinting to a birthday lunch for someone at a nicer restaurant. Transition pieces for this stuff are killing me.

  17. oooh I just checked out their yoga pants and they are GORGEOUS!!! I totally only want to wear comfy pants especially now that the weather is broiling hot! I think you can totally dress up a pair of track pants, especially with the outfits you just planned out in your comment above! ;)

  18. The weather here has taken a dive after a hurricane sort of fell apart and came on shore. I know it's not technically cold but it sure feels like it after the warm temperatures we had. I swear this isn't an advert for Sweaty Betty but I can't contain my love for their Southbank trackies. The waist is elasticated but not in a way that digs into your waist. There's also a drawstring to allow you to customize fit in the waist more if you're like me and your weight might fluctuate or if you use them for a range of activities. The trackies I was using in this fall like weather to run in, were literally falling down no matter how tight I tied the drawstring. My other trackies have a band of elastic that holds them up, but there must be something about the way they fit that makes it so uncomfortable. Maybe it's the type of elastic? When I first put them on, they feel fine but as I get going in my activities they feel like there's a rope that's really pressing in to my waist. The legs on the Southbank trousers are just loose enough to feel like they're not touching you without being billowy and they have an extended cuff on the ankle. It keeps me from stepping on the hem in certain moves and in others, it lets me see lower leg position and foot position better than my others. Most importantly, they stay in place. It doesn't matter if I'm running, doing Pilates, T'ai Chi, Kung Fu, Yoga - they don't budge. I never feel self-conscious wearing them which just makes doing those things all that much easier. :D Why, yes! They should totes pay me to be an advertisement for them! :D :D :D
