We'll see

top: Appleseeds via thredup
denim: H&M
necklace: bp
flats: GAP

These aren't the greatest pictures, but it was really hard to capture the lace detail on this top without B coming too close to take the shot. The result? That second pic where my dwarfish height is revealed. But whatevs. This top was one of the items I got from Thredup a few months back. This post details my experience with them, if you're interested in reading about it. I haven't actually placed a second order with them because I'm increasingly becoming less comfortable with purchasing items without having tried them on. It's so insane because that limits my options a lot, but I hate the hassle of returning so much.

That said, this top fits fine, but that's just it. I wish it fit better. It's also really heavy, which I couldn't tell from the pictures on the website. I don't regret my online purchase, though; I just take it as a challenge. This piece will hopefully be great for layering in the colder months since it's heavier but will bring a delicate texture to my Fall/Winter outfits that tend to be "edgier" in material and color. We'll just have to see!

  1. Regardless of the fit and weight, the lace is really, really pretty! I still have to get around to checking ThreadUp out....

  2. It's a really pretty top! It's so hard to shop for that kind of thing online though sometimes. At least with ThredUp you're not paying full retail!

  3. It's really pretty! And yeah, I don't order clothes online much anymore, unless it's from someplace like Old Navy and The Gap. I know how the stuff fits, and I can return it to a store if I want. I like that so much better.

  4. Love the top and bright shoes! I can never really buy anything without first trying it on, since standard measurement scales don't typically work for my body.

  5. I actually really hate trying stuff on, LOL. I mean, I want it to fit perfectly and everything, but I really hate fitting rooms and having to undress, try it all on, put everything back on, return stuff to rack, bah. I usually order stuff online from places with consistent sizing...and then I finally took my own measurements, so that helps. I also usually only order from places where I can return stuff to an actual brick and mortar store, too.

  6. It's annoying when a fabric is totally different from what you'd expect when buying it. But the top is really pretty. ♥ And, I know all about the feeling when the angle shows how dwarf one is. I'm such a short person as well so I always have to remind my bf about the angles with the camera :DD

  10. Very true, Beth! and when they have the additional % off, it's a mega steal!

  11. It's such a dilemma because there are SOOOO MANY online shops without brick and mortar stores closeby!

  12. Isn't it frustrating? Ever since I started trying before buying though, I've really started to like my wardrobe more and keep pieces longer!

  13. Oh man, I used to ABHOR trying on clothes. It's such a hassle, even now, but I force myself to to prevent myself from having to return it in case it doesn't work out. In your experience, which stores/brands have consistent sizing?

  14. VERY TRUE. It also sucks when they don't tell you what kind of fabric it is to begin with-- that would help SO MUCH. I didn't know you were short! The angles your bf uses when taking your pics make you look so tall!

  15. !! This! I have been shopping all week. I picked several items, including some from a local store. I held the tabs open, unable to make myself pull the trigger because of my uncertainty about fit. I went to the local store and tried on the top I'd found. I had to go up 4 sizes from my normal size to get the effect I wanted. How insane is that? It's obviously way too big on the bottom but the top section needed to fit a particular way for layering purposes. I feel like I bought a clown top based on the # of the size, but at least I'll be able to layer it comfortably the way I want. It's made me very suspicious about ordering the other stuff I'd found online.

It's a very pretty top. I look forward to seeing what you do with it this winter. ;)

  16. Sizing is so insane, that I try, try, try now. It takes me forever to shop, and I rarely go home with anything when shopping these days. Today, though, I brought home some items ranging from S-L. INSANE, i tell you!

  17. I am short, believe me. All my friends and family members joke about it - which is okay because I always start it. I've actually told Janne to take pictures kinda low so that I wouldn't come off as a dwarf in every photo ;)
